Pay Rate:

The pay rate for this job is $18 - $18 / hour*

What you'll be doing as a Metal Shredder :

• Operate and monitor industrial metal shredding equipment to process scrap metal and recyclable materials

• Assist with feeding scrap metal into shredding equipment using approved procedures

• Monitor material flow through shredders, conveyors, and sorting systems

• Inspect incoming scrap materials for prohibited items and potential safety hazards

• Sort and separate processed metals and recyclable materials as needed

• Perform routine equipment inspections and report mechanical issues or unusual operating conditions

• Assist with basic equipment cleaning and preventive maintenance as directed

• Remove scrap materials, debris, and residual waste from designated work areas when equipment is safely shut down and secured

• Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements and proper use of personal protective equipment

• Maintain clean and organized work areas to support safe and efficient production

Job requirements:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment with PeopleReady

• Previous experience in metal recycling, industrial production, manufacturing, or heavy equipment operations preferred

• Experience operating or working around industrial shredders, conveyors, or material processing equipment preferred

• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to recognize equipment malfunctions

• Ability to safely work around heavy machinery and moving equipment

• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and in a noisy industrial environment

• Ability to follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions

• Background check and drug testing required
