The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney is responsible for prosecuting those charged with violating the criminal laws of Virginia in Virginia Beach. We are seeking a part-time caseworker within our grant Victim Witness program.
Caseworkers assist with the overall administration of the Victim-Witness Program and coordinate services for citizens who participate in the Criminal Justice System. This individual will work with victims and witnesses of crime; maintain contact with victims and witnesses via phone, email, postal mail as well as in person; keep victims and witnesses informed on matters related to their case.
Other duties include coordinate interviews, assist with court appearances and other services; assist victims and witnesses with escorting them to court cases; assist prosecutors with interviews and court cases; maintain case files, record monthly statistical information; help plan and coordinate activities for National Victims' Rights Week; provide backup to other staff when necessary and other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications: Requires a combination of higher education and/or experience equivalent to four (4) years in social work, criminal justice, or related field which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. May require a current and valid driver's license.
