Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Cardiac Nursing Management is hiring a Full-time, Day Shift, Administrative Assistant I
Work Full-time, 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Perform a variety of administrative tasks aimed to optimize the time and performance of a manager or employees of a department; higher level roles will work for higher level managers or departments. Tasks may involve acting as a first point of contact, dealing with correspondence and phone calls, managing diaries, organizing meetings and appointments, preparing documents or reports, and controlling access to the manager or the department. May involve dealing with confidential information. Minimum of 1 Sr Director + 2 more supported from list below: Sr. Directors, Directors.

The Administrative Assistant I provides comprehensive administrative support to Nursing Leadership and plays a critical role in maintaining efficient daily operations. This position requires a highly organized, self-motivated professional who can effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while demonstrating excellent customer service, professionalism, and attention to detail.
This role offers an opportunity to support nursing leadership while contributing to key operational, quality, and patient care initiatives within a collaborative healthcare environment.
Education
- High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree (Strongly Preferred)
Experience - 4-6 Months Basic Experience of Simple Office / Operational Systems (Required)
- Previous administrative support experience in healthcare, business, or a professional office setting (Strongly Preferred)
- Experience supporting multiple leaders and coordinating complex schedules (Strongly Preferred)
Qualifications and Skills Strongly Preferred: - Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service focus and team-oriented approach.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Analytical abilities with experience creating reports, forms, spreadsheets, presentations, tables, and tracking tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate leadership needs.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suitehigher-level, including:
- Excel (formulas, spreadsheets, data tracking)
- PowerPoint (professional presentations)
- Word (document creation and formatting)
- Outlook (calendar and email management)
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
