The Lee Group is seeking dependable, hardworking Outdoor Utility Workers for one of our valued clients in Chesapeake, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, staying active throughout the day, and contributing to the maintenance of essential community services.
In this role, you will work in a variety of outdoor environments performing utility support, meter-related duties, and general field maintenance. The ideal candidate enjoys physical work, works well as part of a team, and is committed to safety and excellent service.
Job Responsibilities of Outdoor Utility Workers
- Perform daily work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Read, inspect, and document utility meter information along assigned routes.
- Inspect, remove, replace, and assist with repairs of utility meters and related equipment.
- Assist with general field maintenance and cleanup of work areas.
- Operate company vehicles safely while traveling between assigned job sites.
- Support crews with material handling, equipment setup, and site preparation.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required reports.
- Interact professionally with customers and the public when necessary.
- Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications of Outdoor Utility Workers
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Comfortable working outdoors for the entire shift in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding work.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Previous outdoor labor, utility, landscaping, construction, public works, or municipal experience is a plus but not required.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements of Outdoor Utility Workers
- Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, and climbing.
- Exposure to traffic, uneven terrain, and outdoor elements.
- Occasional use of hand tools and utility equipment.
- Must be able to safely perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
