PROLIM Government Services is seeking highly experienced Project Management Analysts / Project Managers to support a leading shipbuilding and defense client in Newport News, Virginia.
This role is ideal for a strategic project management professional with extensive experience leading large-scale manufacturing, fabrication, industrial, or shipbuilding projects. The successful candidate will oversee complex programs from project initiation through execution and delivery while ensuring alignment with schedule, budget, quality, and operational objectives.
The position requires a strong leader with expertise in project planning, risk management, critical path analysis, resource planning, stakeholder communication, and manufacturing operations.
Lead and manage all phases of the project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure.
Oversee large-scale manufacturing and fabrication projects within a heavy industrial environment.
Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Operations.
Perform critical path analysis and dependency mapping to ensure successful project execution.
Develop resource-loaded project schedules and monitor resource utilization throughout the project lifecycle.
Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize schedule, cost, and performance impacts.
Monitor project performance and communicate status, metrics, risks, and key milestones to leadership and stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to project objectives, quality standards, safety requirements, and budget constraints.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.
Support executive-level reporting and strategic planning activities.
Mentor junior project managers and team members in project management best practices.
Assist with manufacturing readiness assessments, production planning, and execution strategies.
Bachelor''''''''''''''''s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of project management experience within heavy manufacturing, fabrication, industrial, shipbuilding, aerospace, or defense environments.
Proven experience managing large, complex projects with budgets exceeding $10 million.
Strong knowledge of project management methodologies including PMI, PMBOK, Agile, or similar frameworks.
Experience developing and managing detailed project schedules, resource plans, and project budgets.
Strong understanding of critical path methodology, dependency mapping, and schedule risk management.
Experience utilizing project management tools such as:
Microsoft Project
Primavera P6
Other enterprise scheduling platforms
Demonstrated success in risk management, problem-solving, and decision-making within manufacturing environments.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Master''''''''''''''''s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field.
PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or equivalent.
Experience managing projects within shipbuilding or defense manufacturing environments.
Experience managing complex component builds and production programs.
