Yard Technician

We are seeking a Yard Technician to assist in maintaining and operating equipment in the yard. This role involves hands-on tasks to ensure the smooth functioning and upkeep of various machinery and tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage equipment such as Mini Excavators, Scissor Lifts, Boom Lifts, Forklifts, and Skidsteers.
• Refuel, stage, grease, and clean equipment.
• Power wash equipment upon its return to the yard.
• Assist mechanics with daily preventative maintenance tasks.
• Load and offload equipment for customers or drivers during pickups and returns.

Essential Skills

• Experience with general labor or yard labor.
• Proficiency in operating yard equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of experience in a similar environment, such as construction or yard operations.
• Good communication skills for engaging with customers.
• Forklift experience (sit down) is preferred; experience with Excavators and Skidsteers is a plus.
• Valid driver's license from any state.
• Willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and being a team player.

Work Environment

Work in a dynamic yard environment, both indoors and outdoors, with a supportive team of approximately 10 members. The shift schedule is from 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, with no on-call service. Steel-toed boots are required, and the company provides safety vests, hard hats, and any additional personal protective equipment when necessary.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
