RQ Construction is actively seeking a Commercial Plumbing Superintendent to lead field operations on Department of Defense construction projectsin the Norfolk, VA area. This role is responsible for driving the successful installation of plumbing systems while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, and schedule expectations.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands how to manage crews, coordinate subcontractors, and keep complex mechanical scopes moving in a fast-paced construction environment.
Core Responsibilities
Oversee all plumbing and piping activities on active job sites
Direct field crews and subcontractors to ensure work is completed efficiently and correctly
Coordinate with project leadership to align mechanical work with overall project sequencing
Enforce jobsite safety standards and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
Monitor installation quality and ensure adherence to contract documents and specifications
Identify and resolve field challenges before they impact schedule or cost
Promote strong communication and teamwork across all trades on site
Required Experience & Skills
5+ years of experience as a Plumbing Foreman or Superintendent on commercial or government projects
Proven track record managing plumbing scopes valued at $400K or more
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a commercial plumber
Experience supporting military, federal, or large commercial construction projects preferred
Design-Build project experience is a plus
Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook; exposure to BIM tools is beneficial
Certifications & Education
High school diploma or GED required; trade school or construction-related coursework preferred
OSHA 30, CPR, First Aid, EM-385, and STS certifications required (or ability to obtain)
