Material Handler Refrigerated Production Facility

Location: Newport News, VA (On-Site)

Type: Contract-to-Hire

Pay: $17.50$18.00/hr

Shifts:

• 1st: 4:00 AM 12:30 PM
• 2nd: 12:00 PM 8:30 PM
• 3rd: 8:00 PM 4:30 AM (+$0.50 shift differential)

About the Role

We're hiring reliable, hardworking Material Handlers to support a high-volume, refrigerated production environment. If you enjoy staying active, working with machinery, and keeping operations running smoothly, this role puts you right at the heart of the production process. You'll help ensure materials, equipment, and products move efficiently through the facility every day.

Key Responsibilities

• Move materials between machine stations to maintain steady production flow
• Set up, adjust, and operate bottle-handling equipment, labelers, and related machinery
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
• Verify product codes and labels during changeovers
• Monitor equipment, clear minor jams, and reroute jugs as needed
• Communicate jug supply levels and trailer needs to supervisors
• Ensure machines remain stocked and ready for the bagging process
• Operate the bagging machine during production pauses
• Report equipment or production issues promptly
• Assist maintenance teams during downtime
• Follow all safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required

What You Bring

• Experience in material handling, production, or general labor
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork mindset
• Ability to lift and move materials throughout the shift
• Comfort working in refrigerated conditions and around food-production allergens
• Dependability and willingness to learn new equipment and processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience loading/unloading materials
• Familiarity with packaging, machine operation, or warehouse environments
• Basic mechanical aptitude or comfort using hand tools

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
