S. B. Ballard Construction Company, a leading General Contractor/Construction Manager servicing the Mid-Atlantic region, headquartered in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team in Virginia Beach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
• Develop conceptual, preliminary, and final estimates during design development
• Identify cost-saving alternatives and value engineering options
• Assemble complete bid proposals and pricing summaries
• Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
• Collaborate and reconcile scopes with other members of the estimating team
• Ensure bids comply with project requirements, scope, and deadlines
• Participate in bid reviews and clarifications
• Identify potential risks, constructability issues, and scope gaps
• Prepare reports for management and clients
• Compare estimated vs. actual costs for continuous improvement
• Support negotiations during contract award
• Assist with client presentation preparation

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven experience and knowledge of construction estimating, means and methods, accounting, and document administration
• Thorough understanding of construction industry materials and practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Experience with On Screen Take-off (OST)
• Experience with Bluebeam
• LEED certification is preferred but not required
• DBIA certification is preferred but not required
• Some periodic travel may be required
