Salary: $22.63 to $26.40 per hour.

Duties

You will perform a variety of metal repair, fabrication, plan, layout, and structural disassembly/assembly of aircraft and aircraft components.

You will be performing developmental assignments under normal supervision.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
  • This position requires heavy lifting and carrying of objects up to 45lbs.
  • This position may require climbing which could exceed heights of 20 feet or more.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the screen out listed below. The Screen-out for this position is performing the following tasks:

  1. Ability to assist with metal repair, fabrication, layout, and structural disassembly/assembly operations
  2. Skill in the safe use of basic hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment commonly used in metalworking environments
  3. Ability to read and follow written work instructions, technical manuals, drawings, or sketches with guidance
  4. Ability to perform measurements, layout, drilling, trimming, deburring, and fitting tasks to support aircraft component repair
  5. Knowledge of shop safety practices and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  6. Ability to learn aircraft-specific repair procedures, materials, and specifications through formal training and on-the-job instruction
  7. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, follow directions, and perform assignments reliably and dependably in a production environment

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
