Portsmouth Public Works is seeking a dependable Administrative Assistant to support daily office operations. This position involves handling a high volume of incoming phone calls while providing professional customer service to residents, vendors, and staff.
Answer and route calls; take complaints and complete complaint forms
Direct complaints to the correct department or supervisor
Screen emails and handle requests appropriately
Assist the Recycling Coordinator with special projects
Use walkie-talkies and support communication across departments
Maintain records and perform general administrative tasks
Become familiar with city refuse rules and codes
Strong multitasking and organizational skills
Excellent phone etiquette and professional, courteous demeanor
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
