Job Duties:
The Virginia Beach Convention Center exists to facilitate successful experiences by offering a full range of high-quality services and amenities for conventions, professional trade shows, consumer shows and community events. The right candidate for this position will be a self-motivated individual who enjoys a challenging work environment and wants to make a difference in our organization. You will be an integral part of a team committed to providing exceptional customer service to our clients. Job duties include the following:
• Starting Salary: $15.53 / Hourly
• Must be available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
• Greet patrons at Convention Center Box Office
• Accurately process sale of public admission tickets and collect payments; calculate change
• Accurately count and reconcile large sums of money
• Accurately calculate and make monetary change
• Operate POS, credit card machine, computerized ticketing system, calculator, computer, multi-function device (copier, printer, fax machine)
• Provide accurate event and visitor information to guests
• Ability to direct patrons to the correct room/hall in the building hosting ticketed event
• Ability to work with Duty Managers, Security, EMT, and Police with crowd management during heavily attended events
• Excellent verbal communications skills with both internal and external customers
• Must wear provided uniform in accordance with Convention Center uniform policies
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time as well as stand, crouch, bend, or kneel
• Ability to withstand loud entertainment
• Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team
• Must report all completed work to the Box Office Supervisor and/or Account Clerk Supervisor
• Required to complete Crowd Manager Training, Integrity Connection for Members and First Aid/CPR/Stop the Bleed within six months of hire and maintain certification

Preferences:
• Experience selling tickets
• Six months cash handling experience
• Experience using POS system for cash/credit card sales, selling tickets and retail items
• Experience using computerized ticketing system
• Computer proficiency (i.e. internet, email, MS Office products)
• Experience providing face to face customer service
