Nature of Work:
Individual will perform responsible clerical work involving office tasks of a varied nature. Clerical functions include but are not limited:
- to the calculation of inmate release dates;
- process jail credits;
- conduct warrant checks local & national and notify appropriate authorities of any detainers;
- assist other departments with research requests;
- verify court orders and court disposition notices;
- perform court docket updates;
- phone duty to field incoming calls and respond to telephone inquiries;
- respond to inmate correspondence;
- prepare inmate files each time an inmate enters and leaves the jail.
Minimum Requirements: High school or GED plus six (6) months experience and training in fields providing the knowledge, skills and abilities such as clerical work. Individual must meet eligibility requirements for VCIN operator (U.S. Citizen or lawful resident of the United States for the past 10 consecutive years prior to applying for certification).
Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Must be available to work overtime when required to meet operational needs. Successful completion of application, oral interview, police background investigation and polygraph examination.
Preference: Prefer individual with (1) year of clerical work with above average oral and written communication and customer service skills. Individuals who demonstrate respect, integrity and strong interpersonal skills, ability to relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Physical Requirements: Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and routine keyboard operations.
