Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Terminal Operator to join our team in Chesapeake, VA. This position will be responsible for successfully perform the day-to-day terminal operations and maintenance.
Responsibilities
* Load tanker trucks or rail cars according to job orders and in a manner to minimize spillage and dust.
* Offload rail cars and ships in a manner to minimize spillage, dust and contamination.
* Operate equipment such as Heila arm manipulator 926 M payloader/bobcats, forklifts, and Trackmobile.
* Diagnose cause of equipment or plant malfunction to determine root cause of problem.
* Repair plant and equipment, including compressors, pumps, gearboxes, blowers, etc. with limited supervision.
* Maintain grounds to include mowing, landscaping, snow and ice removal, etc.
* May make minor electrical repairs.
* Make recommendations to appropriate plant personnel in a timely manner to prevent recurrence of problems.
* Perform all work in a manner to maximize production amounts and quality.
* Maintain safe and clean work area.
* Operate hand-help radio according to company policy and FCC regulations.
* Communicate verbally with all plant personnel.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Must possess excellent communication skills.
* Must have knowledge of plant operating systems.
* Must have knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
* Must have good computer skills.
* Physical job requirements include working outdoors with exposure to extreme heat and cold, constant standing and walking, climbing, working from heights and lifting to 50 lbs.
* Must be able to work nights and weekends when needed.
* Must be able to obtain TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
