Description:

Join Our Team as a Construction Inspector I. The City of Virginia Beach Public Works Department is seeking dedicated individuals to become part of our team. Duties to include:
* Perform closed circuit television (CCTV) inspections of the City's stormwater drainage systems to support MS-4 permit requirements and post construction inspections.
* Perform CCTV inspections according to NASSCO standards.
* Inspect drainage systems according to Federal, State, and Local law and regulation.
* Perform post construction and maintenance inspections of drainage systems according to State and Local drainage system design standards and specifications, and general industry standards.
* Perform CCTV investigative inspections of drainage systems to support staff addressing citizen requests, environmental concerns, or other drainage related issues.
* Plan and schedule inspections according to a developed inspection program cycle.
* Research, track, and report inspection activities and results in a resource management system such as Hansen or Cartegraph.
* Perform other duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less.
* Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on department needs
* Physical ability to launch camera equipment, lift manhole covers, and perform other heavy lifting up to 100 lbs.
This position is ALPHA 1 and is required to work in excess of their normally scheduled days/hours during all inclement weather (flooding, hurricanes & snow), and/or in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies
