Overview

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Elder Law Attorney to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice on elder law issues, including retirement asset planning, estate and gift tax, wills, trusts, property law, and Medicaid regulations. The role requires a deep understanding of Virginia law, a license to practice in Virginia, and the ability to draft revocable and irrevocable trusts, with a strong commitment to safeguarding the rights and interests of the elderly and their families.

Location: Chesapeake, VA. Salary range: $90,000 - $125,000 per year. This position is hosted by Jobot and offers a 401K match, great benefits, and bonuses.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to elderly clients and their families on elder law issues, including estate planning, wills, trusts, retirement asset planning, and long-term care Medicaid.
• Draft and review legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives.
• Develop and implement effective estate and gift tax strategies.
• Navigate Medicaid regulations and assist clients in planning for long-term care.
• Draft revocable and irrevocable trusts to meet clients' needs and goals.
• Advocate for the rights of the elderly in courtrooms, nursing homes, and administrative hearings.
• Stay current with changes in elder law and related areas to provide up-to-date advice.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Current Virginia license to practice law and admitted to the Virginia Bar.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in elder law, estate planning, and related areas.
• Proven experience in retirement asset planning, estate and gift tax planning, and drafting revocable and irrevocable trusts.
• In-depth knowledge of wills, trusts, property law, and Medicaid regulations.
• Strong advocacy, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build client relationships.
• High ethical standards, professionalism, and commitment to client confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume caseload; strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with legal research tools and software.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range: $90,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr. Benefits include a 401K match, flexible scheduling, and bonus opportunities.
