Job Summary
As an AI/ML Developer at ODU , you will play a pivotal role in developing and deploying machine learning models and AI solutions that support research, academic, and operational objectives. Your expertise will contribute to building intelligent systems, enabling data-driven decision-making, and fostering innovation within the university. This role requires close collaboration with data scientists, researchers, IT teams, and various university departments to ensure that AI solutions align with institutional goals and user requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or related field. Or a bachelor's in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or related field and prior work experience equivalent to a master's degree.
Considerable knowledge and understanding of deep learning architectures, NLP , and computer vision.
Knowledge of cloud platforms ( AWS , Azure, or GCP ) and experience with their AI/ML services.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, and experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
Experience in machine learning model development, training, and deployment.
Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and working with large datasets.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with real-time data processing and edge AI solutions.
Familiarity with MLOps tools and practices for streamlined model lifecycle management.
Strong background in data visualization tools to present insights derived from models.
Knowledge of data governance and ethical AI practices.
Conditions of Employment
This is a remote position, requiring a traditional 40-hour work week. Computer equipment will be supplied; high speed internet is the responsibility of the employee.
The equipment provided to staff with approved telework agreements enables them to deliver vital services to University faculty, staff, and students from remote locations. Many of our operations can and should continue as usual, even when the main physical campus is closed. Therefore, all Division of Transformation & Technology employees with an approved telework agreement are generally expected to work during official University closures.
