Position: General Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible to lead the safe operation of the facility in accordance with the company's overall safety goals and desires.
  • Set financial goals and metrics and maximize financial returns on capital resources and human resources through well planned operations and long-term cost controls.
  • Monitor organizational structure, equipment and facility improvements that may need to be adjusted for ensuring ability to meet current company goals.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate all aspects of the Norfolk facilities.
  • Review and approve all contracts, in conjunction with Vice President, and ensure contracts are well managed to maximize company profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure all operations are performed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that vendors and suppliers meet the needs of the company in performance and financial requirements.
  • Screen, interview, hire and train manager and supervisors reporting to the General Manager.
  • Provide the required motivation, discipline, evaluations and feedback required for direct reports as well as their subordinates.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to develop a team environment and maximize efforts of team behaviors.
  • Can understand and execute business development within the area to include existing and new customers.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science in Marine or Naval Engineering or 10 years' experience in senior management position in Marine or Naval ship repair.
  • Preferable MBA and PMP.
  • Eligible for security clearance.
  • Knowledge of FAR, DFAR and Government contract practices.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • Planning, negotiating and organizing skills.
  • An understanding of the Federal Markets to include USN, USCG, USNS and MARAD work.
  • An understanding of NAVSEA ship repair requirements.
